Our Episcopal Campus Ministry follows both the
days and seasons of the Church Year and the [academic calendar]
of Rutgers University. We'll highlight upcoming events and
programs on our [Home Page], and we'll also post
events on the RU [events calendar],
which you can search using the keyword "episcopal."
No matter what your schedule looks like, there's an opportunity to
connect with your faith at Rutgers. Here's a quick look at a
typical week:
Sunday
On Sunday mornings we encourage you to worship at our local
parish churches. On Sunday evenings during Lent we worship at
5:00 p.m. in the quiet beauty of St. John the Evangelist, 189 George St
(next to the Rutgers Public Safety Building, next to Commercial Avenue).
Our worship centers around the celebration of Holy Eucharist and our
music is student generated and guitar based.
Weekdays
Monday through Friday the student scene shifts to [Canterbury House],
a "home away from home" for students, located at 5 Mine Street in the
heart of the College Avenue campus. Here we offer Christian hospitality
by providing a place to pray, study and hang out with friends. There's
an iPod dock, secure WiFi, and a kitchen where you can warm up your
lunch or make a cup of tea. On weekday evenings we gather at 5 p.m. for
Evening Prayer.
On weekdays there is always something happening at [Canterbury House].
Here are a few program highlights from the week:
Monday
The C.S Lewis Society at Rutgers (our theological
bookclub) meets on alternating Monday evenings from
6:00-7:30
around the fireplace at at [
Canterbury House].
Thursday
We celebrate Holy Eucharist (Holy Communion) at 12:15 p.m at [Canterbury House];
this brief service is designed to fit your lunch hour.
Our Young Adult Fellowship happens on
Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at
[Canterbury House].
We eat, talk, study the Bible and pray.
It's a time to connect with Christians on the campus and grow
spiritually.
